Games: Secrets of designing SACRED's start menu

In 2003 I skribbled those menu graphics. Using symbols and certain forms was vital for my way to tell this story.


The external developer Lightstorm brought my skribbles to life. The only thing we skipped was the little winged lizard to the left, well, doesn't matter.


Note that skribble above misses the title of SACRED. A few days before master we just realized that we did not have the title anywhere in the game except within the cinematic intro, so as a last minute stunt we moved the sword in the water to the right and placed the title there, just under the animated, moving waterline.
