Movies: Special Effects in Space II

Creating moving space ships was always a topic we worked on. Years later we tried moving the camera instead of the models using a track system at the ceiling. We shot on Super-8-Material to get a higher and finer quality of the images than it was possible with the videomaterial during that time - camera soensors were slow and created nasty lighting streaks when moved to fast.

The models were put in front of our starfield (still black cardboard with needle holes in it and two 5000 W lights behind it, as it covered a 4m*3m area). As the camera was moving and the model was able to tilt, we created some impressing shots with a lot of depth.
